New z990 Models Make M204 Apps Even Faster

Just when you thought your Model 204 applications couldn't possibly get any faster, IBM raises the bar by announcing the upcoming availability of the z990 C & D models. The new systems provide significantly more memory which Model 204 can exploit by using dataspaces for server swapping and CCATEMP, and ultimately exceeding the 2 gigabyte virtual storage limit. They are also equipped with a particularly sophisticated channel subsystem, including fast Fibre channels that allow Model 204 to achieve exceedingly high I/O rates. Supporting up to 32 processors and 30 LPARs, the new z990 models can handle the load of many smaller machines. For more information, please refer to IBM's official announcement.
