Insight 204 General Sessions

Opening New Doors
Chris Ramsdale, Director of Strategic Product Planning
Computer Corporation of America

In the spring of 2005, CCA will deliver another major release of Model 204: Version 6.1 (V6R1). This exciting new version greatly expands the capabilities of Model 204 and opens new doors to applications that are faster, more powerful, and more integrated than ever before. It further emphasizes the fact that Model 204 is not just a database management system, but rather a robust, agile, modern business tool that can give your enterprise competitive advantage in today’s highly-connected world.

In this session, Chris will highlight the new features in V6R1 that collectively build upon Model 204’s four major areas of strength: its scalability, availability, flexibility, and extensibility. Details of each new feature will be provided in other sessions throughout the symposium.

The Jim Damon V6R1 Performance Report
Jim Damon, Senior Systems Engineer
Computer Corporation of America
Model 204 V6R1 will be commercially available in Spring 2005. It is a major release with many new features that will benefit all customers. In addition to these features, performance continues to improve with no changes required to parameters, files or UL applications. Jim will present results from the TPCB Benchmark, which show how these performance improvements translate into reduced CPU consumption and higher transaction throughput across the last six releases of Model 204. Jim will highlight additional performance options of V6R1, which can be enabled through changes to JCL or new parameter settings in CCAIN, to further maximize Model 204 efficiency and reduce operating costs.
